OXUM was founded by Misha – born in 1994 and raised and shaped by a lifetime of travel, family tradition, and craftsmanship. Her work celebrates honest materials, quiet symbolism, and pieces meant to be worn every day. OXUM reflects Misha’s upbringing surrounded by eclectic jewellery and artifacts, her love for cultural traditions and craftsmanship.
I grew up watching my father collect and sell jewellery from around the world. As a child, me and my brother traversed the globe with him, from the mysterious corners of the East to the lush jungles of the South. Watching artisans craft jewellery and textiles on the floor. These journeys became my education. Captivated by stones, charms, architecture, people - arms draped in silver bangles, henna stained hands, jewellery that served as talismans. There is something sacred in how people carry their stories in what they wear.
The name OXUM comes from the orisha, the goddess of gold, the moon, the fresh waters. A tribute to the soft but powerful energy that inspires me, to my mother, who every day teaches me to approach the world with nurture, and to my father, who taught me to see the world through its hidden connections and corners. This spirit lives in my Copenhagen workshop, where jungle greens and raw materials blur the line between studio and sanctuary.
